I heard a couple of times people saying change the sump washer every time and the sump plug every other oil change. Is there any wisdom in that or complete hogwash?
Feb 20, 2006 · Cost for fully synthetic oil & filter change at these people is £21. My wife's little Honda which uses semi-synthetic is even cheaper. It makes sense between services and my friendly mechanic reckons he cannot buy the oil alone at that price. "0844 COSTS YOU MORE".

Sep 4, 2013 · Good find! According to their website they sell 2 specs of fully synthetic oil: ASDA 5W40 API SL/CF ACEA A3/B3. ASDA 5W30 API SM/CF ACEA C3 - this is the low SAPS/ash oil for modern diesel engines with DPF. £20 for 5 litres is a very good price, so it is a steal if you can get it for £11. "Retail is for suckers".

I will change the oil and filter, but I am expecting the fault to be the oil pressure switch or the oil pump. It's done 114k miles. When at the airport, checked oil, too much in, if anything. Light went off, but came back on after ten miles.

My e46320d which did 130K miles, my e90320d which did 78K miles and my current f30 330d all had/have full BMW Service history with oil changes as the Computer Based Servicing demanded. However I change the oil filter at halfway between oil-changes - note that's an extra filter change at around 9 to 10K miles without changing the oil.
Aug 24, 2012 · Annual change with semi synth 10W40, I can't imagine it takes a lot of oil so I'd go for any of the premium ones. Between the two you've mentioned, it really is swings and roundabouts. Don't spend extra on a 'good' oil filter they really are all the same, and don't over-tighten it!
