For a different but complementary take on AI to Murderbot, I recommend " A Closed and Common Orbit ", which technically is a sequel to "Voyage to a Small and Angry Planet", but doesn't need any exposure to that novel at all.

Vehicles are in the media, but there isn't much ship to ship combat; most of that is electronic warfare and even when there are ships firing on one another it is through computer-targeting and evading, for the most part.

  6. Mar 6, 2024 · It's about the titlar "murderbot" that hacks it's company security override and escapes it's clutches. It's very dryly funny as 'murderbot' really dislikes it's job and rather watches soap operas on it's feed then really engage with the action going on around it. It also hacks security cameras just to avoid eye contact with people. Very relatable.

Aug 25, 2024 · I think there are quite a few space opera series with massive numbers of books (seriously, 7-10 is a lot) and people having fun adventures in wonder-filled worlds, but they honestly don’t make the Hugos very often (not because the Hugo judges don’t like such books, but they’re often not as popular and don’t have individual standout books).
