The big crystals always take longer to dissolve by warming, by which time, as Finman pointed out, the weight and warmth will collapse the comb; expect that fondant is made of universal small crystals.

I have decided not to put prices up this year although I will be paying 8p per jar on my next order. £6 for 340gr at the gate and £5.60 to retailers who sell them for £8.20. It's a fine balance, yes everything is going up but I don't want to be stuck with 100s kgs of unsold honey.

But if you do feel so rotten that you stole the bees winter stores you should ensure you are careful to feed back exactly the same honey as you took..... same hive let alone apiary!

The shopkeeper is a good friend but I only recently asked about her price and was shocked. But she's not the only one; the local farm shop sells other local honey for £5.50 for 1lb.
