Orvon Grover " Gene " Autry [2] (September 29, 1907 – October 2, 1998), [3] nicknamed the Singing Cowboy, was an American actor, musician, singer, composer, rodeo performer, and baseball team owner, who largely gained fame by singing in a crooning style on radio, in films, and on television for more than three decades, beginning in the early 1930s.

Gene Autry (born September 29, 1907, near Tioga, Texas, U.S.—died October 2, 1998, Los Angeles, California) was an American actor, singer, entrepreneur, one of Hollywood’s premier singing cowboys, and the best-selling country and western recording artist of the 1930s and early ’40s.
In 1950, Autry became the first major movie star to use the television medium. Always a man of vision, Autry excelled and for the next five years through his Flying A Pictures he produced and starred in 91 half-hour episodes of The Gene Autry Show for CBS Television.
Composer, songwriter ("Back in the Saddle Again","That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine"), actor, author and businessman, educated at Ravia (Oklahoma) High School. He was a telegrapher for the Frisco Railroad, and first appeared on radio in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Later he had his own radio show on CBS.
