Perumal Murugan (born 1966) is an Indian writer, scholar and literary chronicler who writes in Tamil. He has written twelve novels, six collections of short stories, six anthologies of poetry and many of the non-fiction books.
பெருமாள்முருகன் (பி. 1966) ஒரு தமிழ் எழுத்தாளர். இவர் நாமக்கல் மாவட்டம் திருச்செங்கோடு வட்டம் கூட்டப்பள்ளியில் பிறந்தவர். தமிழ் வட்டார நாவலின் முன்னோடியாகிய எழுத்தாளர் ஆர். சண்முகசுந்தரம் குறித்து ஆய்வு செய்து தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தில் முனைவர் பட்டம் பெற்றவர். அரசு கலைக் கல்லூரி ஒன்றில் தமிழ்ப் பேராசிரியராகப் பணியாற்றியவர்.
Perumal Murugan is a professor of Tamil literature and one of India's most respected and bestselling literary writers. The author of eleven novels and five collections each of short stories and poetry, Murugan was born in rural Tamil Nadu and continues to live and work there.
