  1. STRING is a database that provides comprehensive information on protein-protein interaction networks and functional enrichment analysis.

  2. STRING is part of the ELIXIR infrastructure: it is one of ELIXIR's Core Data Resources. Learn more >

  3. STRING Database — Content. STRING is a database of known and predicted protein-protein interactions. The interactions include direct (physical) and indirect (functional) associations; they stem from computational prediction, from knowledge transfer between organisms, and from interactions aggregated from other (primary) databases.

  4. The basic principle. In STRING, each protein-protein interaction is annotated with one or more 'scores'. Importantly, these scores do not indicate the strength or the specificity of the interaction. Instead, they are indicators of confidence, i.e. how likely STRING judges an interaction to be true, given the available evidence.

  5. STRING is a database of known and predicted protein interactions. The interactions include direct (physical) and indirect (functional) associations; they are derived from four sources: Genomic Context

  6. Jan 1, 2019 · The STRING database aims to collect, score and integrate all publicly available sources of protein–protein interaction information, and to complement these with computational predictions. Its goal is to achieve a comprehensive and objective global network, including direct (physical) as well as indirect (functional) interactions.

  7. Jan 8, 2021 · The STRING database aims to integrate all known and predicted associations between proteins, including both physical interactions as well as functional associations.
