Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha was founded by Mahathma Gandhiji in the year 1918 at Madras (now Chennai) for propogation of Hindi in the south. Since Hindi, in the Pre-Independance days was almost at the centre stage of the Freedom Movement, people in great numbers came forward willingly to learn Hindi.
