Nathan Alexander is the James King, Jr. Visiting Professor of Mathematics Teaching at Morehouse College. Alexander is also Associate Director of the James King, Jr. Institute for Student and Faculty Engagement "Communicating by Thinking Effectively in and About Mathematics" (Communicating TEAMs).
My name is Nathan (my childhood friends know me as Naite) and this is my personal website. I identify as a teacher, conduct research, and learn in community with others. Staying busy with "work" keeps me in the spirit of service; that said, community and self care are important.
Current Research. Mathematical Models in the Sociological Imagination. What if we re-imagined the meaning of "social justice" as a practice of possibility, one grounded in critical care , using evidence and data to show folks when things are awry, and practicing healing with ourselves and in community with others.
I then moved to New York for graduate school and I completed my PhD in education and mathematical and statistical modeling at Columbia University Teachers College. Prior to Atlanta, I was a proud resident of Oakland, CA and I’ve spent some time living and studying abroad in Belize and Singapore.
