It premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Directing Prize, as did Mendelsohn's first feature, Judy Berlin; Mendelsohn is the only director to have won the prize twice.

Jun 28, 2011 · I don't really understand how this movie got good reviews from critics who seemed to praise the director, and think this was some kind of statement on suburban life. I guess you could call it a slice of life type of movie - but the scenarios were never deep enough in any of the '3 backyards' to really get involved, or understand any one of them.
