George Edward Pope (born December 24, 1973) is an American former soccer player who last played for Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer and spent eleven years as a defender for the United States national team.
A defender who starred for the United States in three World Cups, won three MLS titles and scored one of the most dramatic goals in American soccer history. Pope broke into the national team during World Cup qualifying in the fall of 1996, after having starred in the U.S. Olympic team that summer.
