  4. Timeline of Evelyn’s Journey. July 1965. Born in Aberdeen. On 19 July 1965 Evelyn Elizabeth Ann Glennie was born to Isobel and Arthur Glennie in Aberdeen, Scotland. Evelyn was taken back to the family farm outside Methlick – a small village in the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside.

She began studying piano at age eight and two years later began to play clarinet. As her hearing began to deteriorate (Evelyn is profoundly deaf), she switched to percussion at age 12.
