Sugata Bose (born 7 September 1956) is an Indian historian and politician who has taught and worked in the United States since the mid-1980s. His fields of study are South Asian and Indian Ocean history.
Bose is currently writing a book titled Asia after Europe: Decline and Rise of a Continent (under contract with Harvard University Press) and working as General Editor on The Cambridge History of the Indian Ocean.
Sugata Bose is the Gardiner Professor of History at Harvard University. Bose has served as Director of Graduate Studies in History at Harvard and as the Founding Director of Harvard’s South Asia Institute.
