Jun 7, 2019 · Lalit Kala Akademi, the youngest of the three Akademies founded by Govt. of India, establishes to direct its focus on activities in the field of Visual Arts. In his inaugural speech Maulana Abul Kalam Azad had stated “The Akademi must work to preserve the glorious traditions of the past and enrich them by the work of our modern artists”.
The Lalit Kala Akademi or National Academy of Art (LKA) is India's national academy of fine arts. It is an autonomous organisation, established in New Delhi in 1954 by Government of India to promote and propagate understanding of Indian art , in and outside the country.
The National Exhibition of Art is the most prestigious annual event of the Lalit Kala Akademi. Begun in 1955, it is directed towards showcasing and representing visual advances in the year. Through the years the National Exhibition has evolved, keeping abreast of developments and alterations along the years.

Lalit Kala Akademi, National Academy of Art, New Delhi was set up by the Government of India as an autonomous body, on 5th August 1954 by the then Honourable Minister for Education, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The Akademi was given statutory authority in 1957 under the Societies Registration Act 1860.
The 64th National Exhibition of Art will be held in the month of July - August 2024. The minimum age of participation is 25 years. The entry forms can be obtained from Lalit Kala Akademi Head Quarters at New Delhi and Regional Centres.

Apr 11, 2022 · The Vice President bestowed the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship and Sangeet Natak Awards for the year 2018 to 44 eminent artists (4 Fellows and 40 awardees). He also presented Fellowships and National Awards of Lalit Kala Akademi for the year 2021 to 23 people (3 Fellows and 20 National Awards).
