Toonz is a 2D animation software program. The base application is currently managed by Dwango as open-source software under the name OpenToonz. [1] .

OpenToonz is based on "Toonz Ghibli Edition," an in-house customized version of Toonz that Studio Ghibli has used for many years for digital workflow of their production. Since Toonz and GTS have been the core of the production process in the past, OpenToonz and GTS were also widely used in the production of "The Boy and the Heron".
You can download the appropriate version of OpenToonz for your operating system from the Download page in the official OpenToonz web site. Choose either the Windows or macOS version to start downloading the installer application.
