Dec 11, 2023 · Rankin was born Richard Harris in Glasgow, Scotland, on 4 January 1983. He changed his name to Rankin, his mother’s maiden name, to avoid confusion with Irish actor Richard Harris. He studied computer science at Glasgow Caledonian University but converted to acting after meeting a Los Angeles film producer.
