The conga, also known as tumbadora, is a tall, narrow, single-headed drum from Cuba. Congas are staved like barrels and classified into three types: quinto (lead drum, highest), tres dos or tres golpes (middle), and tumba or salidor (lowest).
The conga drum is the cornerstone of Latin rhythm and percussion and has become a popular instrument in many musical genres all over the world. Of Afro-Cuban origin, the conga is called the tumbadora in Cuba and the drummer is called a conguero.
