As a member of the "Two Qins, Two Lins" (二秦二林), Charlie Chin is known for portraying the romantic interest of the female lead in a love triangle in Literary Romantic Films (愛情文藝片) in the 1970s. He received two Golden Horse Awards for his performance as best leading actor.
