Gorden Kaye (born 7th April 1941 in Huddersfield, died 23rd January 2017) was a British comic actor who played the part of Elsie Tanner's nephew Bernard Butler on Coronation Street from 1969 to 1970. He came to acting late, having joined an amateur dramatics group at the age of 27 and gained his part in the Street a year later, after Patricia Phoenix saw him on stage in Bolton and urged the programme's producers to hire him.
