Professor Shonku, although relatively lesser known than Feluda, is, nevertheless, a very interesting character. In the year 1965, the first Shonku story ‘Byomjatrir Diary’ (The Diary of an Astronaut) appeared in the Bengali children’s magazine Sandesh which Sukumar Ray established and Satyajit Ray rejuvenated.
