周永康 （1942年12月3日 — ），原名 周元根 ，男，漢族， 江苏 无锡 人， 中华人民共和国 政治人物，是 中国共产党 和中华人民共和国前 主要 领导人 之一，最高官至 正国级 。 为第十六届 中共中央政治局 委员、十七届 中央政治局常务委员 、 中央政法委 书记。 [2] 1964年11月加入 中国共产党 ，1966年9月参加工作，毕业于 北京石油学院 勘探系。 曾担任 中央政法委 书记、 中央书记处书记 、 国务委员 、 公安部 部长、 中共四川省委 书记和 国土资源部 部长等职务。 2012年 中共十八大 后退休。 2013年12月1日，中共中央政治局常委会召开会议，听取了中央纪委在查办案件中发现的周永康违纪线索情况的汇报，决定开展相应核查工作。
