Writer-director Prashanth Neel debuted in Kannada cinema with the action-thriller Ugramm (2014), which featured Srii Murali and Hariprriya in the lead roles. A sensational critical and commercial success, Ugramm`s theatrical run lasted for over a 100 days, and Prashanth won the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Director that year.
