A first generation American, Ravi Singh was born in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois by immigrant parents. His father Dr. Pavitar Singh immigrated from Burma after the 1962 Burmese military coup d'état. He then pursued a career in medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and then eventually Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, Illinois.
