Ishwar Chandra Bandyopadhyay CIE (popularly known as Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar; Bengali: ঈশ্বরচন্দ্র বিদ্যাসাগর, lit. 'Ishwar Chandra, the Sea of Knowledge'; 26 September 1820 – 29 July 1891) was an Indian educator and social reformer of the nineteenth century.
Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar (1820-1891) was as one of the pillars of Bengal renaissance who managed to continue the social reforms movement that was started by Raja Rammohan Roy in the early 1800s. Vidyasagar was a well-known writer, intellectual and above all a staunch supporter of humanity.
