National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a new scheme of Government of India to provide financial support to establishments undertaking the apprenticeship training. It was launched on19th August 2016.

The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961 amended in 1973; offers Graduate, Diploma students and Vocational certificate holders; a practical, hands-on On-the-Job-Training (OJT) based skilling opportunities with duration ranging from 6 months to 1 year.
The scheme offers practical training to graduate engineers, diploma holders (Technicians), and 10+2 Vocational pass-outs in approximately 10,000 industrial establishments. This program operates in compliance with guidelines established by the Central Apprenticeship Council (CAC), a statutory body created under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
