Thiagarajar College founded on 7th July 1949, was formally inaugurated on 12th October 1949 by His Excellency, the King of Bhavnagar, the then Governor of the Madras State. In the inaugural function, the founder, Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar, described this college as a “Small and Humble Endeavour in Education”.
An affiliate institute of Madurai Kamaraj University, Thiagarajar College is located on Teppakulam West Street in Madurai’s Kamraj Salai area, on the banks of the Vaigai River, around 14 kilometres from Madurai Airport.
