Rai (born 1970/1971) is a Hindi film director and producer known for directing the romantic comedy-dramas Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and its sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), and the romantic drama Raanjhanaa (2013), with the latter two earning him nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Director.

May 21, 2014 · The sequel of ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ has got embroiled in a legal tangle between director Aanand L Rai and producers trio of Vinod Bachchan, Sanjay Singh and Shailesh Singh. Vinod on Wednesday said he is sending a legal notice to Rai for announcing the sequel to 2011 romantic comedy without his consent.
