  6. Webber, the son of a Swiss sculptor, was born in London but was sent abroad for his early artistic education. In Berne he studied under J.L. Aberli, the originator of a picturesque manner of portraying Swiss mountain scenery. Returning to London, Webber studied at the Royal Academy schools.

  8. Webber was the son of the Swiss sculptor Abraham Wäber. He trained in Berne with the landscape painter Johann Ludwig Aberli, and then from 1770 studied at the Académie Royale in Paris. He entered the Royal Academy Schools in London and exhibited there in 1776.
