Feb 9, 2016 · The contest in 1984, won by Hawaii's Denton Miyamura in a clean 8-foot swell, was the only year Sunset served as the Eddie's staging ground. The following winter, The Eddie was rebranded as a big-wave speciality event and moved down the Kam Highway to Eddie's beloved Waimea Bay.
