Margate is a seaside town in the Thanet District of Kent, England. It is located on the north coast of Kent and covers an area of 2 miles (3 kilometres) long, 16 miles (26 kilometres) north-east of Canterbury and includes Cliftonville , Garlinge , Palm Bay and Westbrook .
Margate's Old Town rejoices in a cultural vibe - chic eateries, galleries and vintage shops mixed with traditional seaside delights. Margate Museum, tells the history of sea-bathing and day-trippers whilst the Tudor House, is thought to be the home of a wealthy yeoman farmer.

- Turner Contemporary Museum. The Turner Contemporary gallery opened in Margate in 2011 and was the main catalyst for cultural change for the area. Incredibly, last year (2022), around 4 million people visited the Turner Contemporary so it has been a huge success story and tourism boost for Margate.
- Dreamland, Margate. Vibrant, retro and kitsch in equal measures (in a good way), Dreamland Margate puts the ‘amusing’ into amusement park. Originally opened in 1870 (albeit in a much smaller form), Dreamland Margate has changed immensely over the years.
- Dreamland. Margate’s own theme park has had a difficult start to the 21st century, having closed completely in the early-2000s. But following a stuttering relaunch in 2015, tens of millions of pounds have been pumped into Dreamland to build an attraction Margate can be proud of.
- Margate Main Sands. The place to get in touch with the traditional delights of the English seaside, Margate Main Sands is the Blue Flag-winning beach on the resort’s central drag.
- Margate Old Town. Against the Main Sands, the Old Town is Margate at its most stylish and bohemian. There’s hardly a chain store to be found on this burrow of streets and alleys flanked by Georgian and Victorian flat-fronted facades up to four storeys high.
- Turner Contemporary. On the site of a boarding house in which J. M. W. Turner stayed is an art museum designed by David Chipperfield and opened in 2011.
