Kocasinan is a municipality and district of Kayseri Province, Turkey. [2] Its area is 1,471 km 2, [3] and its population is 409,005 (2022). [1] It covers the northern part of the agglomeration of Kayseri and the adjacent countryside. The name comes from Mimar Sinan, the Great, Ottoman architect. The mayor is Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar .
Kayseri şehri klasik çağlarda Kapadokya adı verilen bölgede olup, M.Ö. 2000-1750 tarihlerinde Hitit şehir devletlerinin hakimiyeti görülür. Sonraları (M.Ö. 1200-700) Geç Hitit Devri gelir. M.Ö. 600-500 yıllarında Med ve Pers hakimiyeti başlar. Daha sonra İskender ve Diyadoklar bölgede hakimdirler.
