- Zinda was released on 13 January 2006, and has been identified as an unauthorized adaptation of the South Korean film Oldboy, which itself is an official adaptation of the Japanese manga of the same name. Show East, the producers of Oldboy, who had already sold the remake rights to DreamWorks in 2004 had initially expressed legal concerns, but no legal action was taken as the studio had shut down. The film was a box-office flop, grossing ₹17.6 crore worldwide against a budget of ₹13 crore.

May 6, 2022 · Oldboy has even inspired a 2006 Bollywood film called Zinda, which appears to be another Oldboy remake. The plot for Zinda is almost identical to the storyline of Oldboy. However, the rights were never obtained, and Zinda isn’t considered to be an official remake.

There is a third version of Oldboy that Adum might bring up during the review and that is the Indian remake called "Zinda" which came out in 2006 before the 2013 version (And we all know just how good Indian Movies can be especially the remakes /s).
