Vincent Grant Gill (born April 12, 1957) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He began in a number of local bluegrass bands in the 1970s, and from 1978 to 1982, he achieved his first mainstream attention as lead singer of the soft rock band Pure Prairie League.

Feb 2, 2023 · Vince Gill pretty much grew up on music, which meant that when he got to be a part of the band the Pure Prairie League, he was confident enough to make music without second-guessing himself. According to American Songwriter , Gill had started writing songs of his own at 19 and came up with a lot of music for the Pure Prairie League.
Pure Prairie League is an American country rock band which featured in its original lineup, singer and guitarist Craig Fuller, drummer Tom McGrail and steel guitarist John David Call, all from Waverly in southern Ohio.
Gill left Pure Prairie League in 1981 to join Cherry Bombs, the stage band that backed Rodney Crowell. There he worked with Tony Brown and Emory Gordy Jr., both of whom would later produce many of his albums.
