Kumaran (Mohanlal) is the wayward, womanising, nephew of the Sorcerer of Puthoor Illam (Puthoor House/Manor). Since this is the time of marumakkathayam, rights are passed from uncle to nephew.
The basic plot revolves around an old traditional brahmin family in old Kerala ( The time period is not clearly mentioned but it maybe something of a period movie as there is no electricity or automobiles shown on screen, if my memory is corrct).

The technology used in ‘Sreekrishna Parunthu’, especially the tacky special effects, might look dated now, after 35 years. But what holds well even today, at least for me, is the spookiness. ‘Sreekrishna Parunthu’ is one of those old Malayalam horror films which genuinely creeped me out. They don’t make films like this anymore.
