Fossora is an incredible work of art. Ovule, Sorrowful Soil, Ancestress, Fungal City, Fossora, Freefall… those are among her best. The lyrical content is great, production is clean and expensive, her voice sounds mature yet rich and full of emotion. I think it’s impossible to dislike this album as a Björk fan.
So I feel like after Utopia, Fossora seems like paying tribute to home. Your ancestral roots or maybe sinking in your roots. She did the song about her mother's death and also did a beautiful song with her daughter which I never expected.
You’re entitled to that opinions and I can see how you would feel that way. I do feel though that it might be it’s formlessness coming across as unfinished or sloppy. I felt that way when I first listened to Atopos, that it sounded ‘unfinished’ or almost amateur.
