  2. May 8, 2023 · Google scholar provides citations for articles from the search result list (currently MLA, APA, Chicago, Harvard or Vancouver). To grab a citation, click on the Quotes icon below an article in your search result list and select from the available citation styles.

    Select the Toolsmenu.
    Select Citationsfrom the drop-down menu.
    Select MLA, APA, or Chicago Author-Date from the style guideformat menu in the Citations sidebar. (You only have to make this choice for the first source.)
    Select Add citation source.
    Select the type of source from the Source type menu:
    Select how you accessed the source from the Accessed by menu. (The options will change according to the type of source you are citing.)
    If the Citations sidebar is not visible, select the Tools menu (see figure 1) and Citationsfrom the drop-down menu (see figure 2).
    Place your cursor in the text where you want to insert the citation.
    Hover your pointer over the source in the sidebar and then select the Citebutton.
