Belconnen (/ ˈbɛlkɒnɪn /) is a district in the Australian Capital Territory in Australia. The district is subdivided into 27 divisions (suburbs), sections and blocks. As at the 2021 census, the district had a population of 106,061 people; [1] and was the most populous district within the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
Belconnen (postcode: 2617) is the most inner suburb of the larger district of Belconnen in Canberra, Australia. Sharing its name with the larger district which encapsulates it, the suburb is surrounded with well developed infrastructure, and planning which allows it sunset views from the Brindabellas on its western side.

Mar 18, 2020 · One of the most desirable suburbs in Australia’s capital city, Belconnen has great options for shopping, outdoor activities and culture. Designed as one of Canberra’s satellite centres away from the central CBD, it was built to be self-contained with its own districts for young families and students from the nearby university.
- Eat out. There are plenty of great places to eat around Belconnen. Most are family friendly and are great value for money. For something with a view of the Lake, you can't beat Black Pepper Café for breakfast and lunch, The Lighthouse Waterfront Pub for lunch and dinner, Bella Vista for delicious Italian cuisine, and Ha Ha Bar breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Grab a coffee. Thanks to the number of government departments based in and around Belconnen, there's always a demand for high-quality coffee spots. For Immigration employees, Café Orange Bean is a popular haunt, as is Coffee Guru.
- Go bowling. Bowling is a fun activity for the whole family, especially on a cold, wet day. AMF Belconnen has 32 lanes, as well as 33 Arcade games.
