I don't want to reduce Bandit Queen to an exploitation film of rape and revenge, because it goes beyond that. Caste is looked at in an unflinching manner, the cyclical nature of violence and oppression has never been clearer, and of course, all of it is punctuated with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Roger White's minimalist score.
