There were leap years for a long time, but only since 1752 has the criteria for today's leap year started. So, 1800 would be the first year divisible by 100 and not a leap year. Share
Apr 22, 2014 · It depends on which 70 years. There might be anywhere from 16 through 18 leap years. For example, the 70-year period from the beginning of 1901 through the end of 1970 contains 17 leap years (1904, 08, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68), but the period from the beginning of 1904 through the end of 1973 contains 18 leap years (the same as the other, plus 1972).
Jan 9, 2019 · Every $28$ years the entire calendar system starts over again because $28$ years will have $7$ leap years and $28 + 7 = 35 = 5*7$ so the calendar will start on the same day and will be a leap year if the first year was a leap year and won't be a leap year if the year wasn't a leap year.

I know that for 1900, it was Wednesday. From 1900 to 1976, there were 6 dozen, then 4 years left, and 1 is a leap year. 6 + 4 + 1 = 11 6 + 4 + 1 = 11. 11 mod 7 = 4 11 mod 7 = 4.
