St. Bede's College is a women's college in Navbahar, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. The college was originally established as a teacher's training institute in 1904 by the Religious of Jesus and Mary. [1] [2] Today, it offers courses in Arts, Commerce, Sciences.
St. Bedes College was formally opened in the summer of 1904. From this day on, St. Bede’s and Chelsea combined to work earnestly for the development of education in India. The period of World War I did not seriously affect the educational aspect of life in the then Punjab. However, the day was dawning when the peaceful security would end.
But when the monastery of St. Paul was established in the year 682, St. Bede seems to have been transferred to the care of its first Abbot, Ceolfrid, and to have remained a monk there for the remainder of his life. St. Bede’s was made deacon at the age of nineteen by Bishop John of Hexham.
St. Bede’s College is certainly one of the oldest and most renowned colleges in this country. Basically now a women’s college, it was set up as a teacher’s training institute by the Religious of Jesus and Mary.

The date of admission for Undergraduate classes in the college is extended upto 31.07.2024. Eligible candidates can submit their applications. Classes for first, second & third year will commence from July 23, 2024 Admissions for PG Courses open .
St Bede’s college in Shimla was set up in 1904 as a teacher training institute for Christian girls. After India got independence, St Bede’s college was opened up for students from other faiths as well. A new block was subsequently built by the college to have more classrooms and a library.
