Jul 19, 2024 · Known often as the Holy Mother, Sarada Devi was the wife and consort of Ramakrishna, the nineteenth-century mystic famous in India both as avatara and as guru to Vivekananda. While her husband died in 1884, Sarada outlived him by almost four decades, dying only in 1920.
Sri Sarada Devi was a spiritual giant in her own right and yet, in her simple and unassuming way, she served Ramakrishna and his disciples for many years. After Ramakrishna's passing away, she carried on his religious ministry, serving as guide and inspiration of the new spiritual movement.
