Salford ( / ˈsɔːlfərd / SAWL-fərd) is a cathedral city in Greater Manchester, England. [2] [3] The city is situated in a meander on the western bank of the River Irwell which forms its boundary with Manchester and its city centre. Surrounded by the University of Salford, this sizeable museum is on the south side of Peel Park, mapping the history of Salford and with a large inventory of Victorian art. The museum dates to 1850, and would be worth a visit just to appreciate its Italianate Renaissance-style galleries.
Aug 17, 2021 · There were plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the scenery including meadows, water features, walled gardens and ponds. The main downside of our visit was access to refreshments. There were two places to buy food and drink. A pizza restaurant which was in a lovely setting with tables outside.
