OUR HISTORY. Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL) is one of the oldest sugar milling companies in Uganda and the flagship enterprise of the Madhvani Group. Established by Muljibhai Prabhudas Madhvani (14th May 1894 – 11th July 1958), the company was first set up in 1930, with the capacity to crush 150 tonnes of cane per day.

With a well-trained experienced team and motivated outgrowers, we process sugarcane to produce and sell top quality branded sugar and provide reliable green electricity for the Uganda grid.
You’ll lead a team of mechanics, diagnose tractor problems, order parts, and ensure safety. This role requires at least 5 years of experience supervising a large agricultural equipment workshop, hands-on mechanic experience, and a Higher Diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent).
OUR COMMUNITY. Life At Kakira. KSL has established and maintains 16 schools (7 nursery schools, 8 primary schools and 1 secondary school) to provide education to over 4,000 children of employees. The performance of the KSL primary schools is among the best in the region.
Kakira Sugar is exported to neighbouring Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). With our total focus on purity and quality, Kakira’s 96.4% extra neutral alcohol (ENA) has a well-established market for local and regional distillers leading brands who produce premium branded products.
Kakira Sugar Limited makes sugar from cane grown on 9,500 hectares of its own nucleus estate, as well as an additional 7,000 hectares in KSL-managed satellite projects.
