Pokiri (transl. Rogue) is a 2006 Indian Telugu -language action thriller film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film was produced by Jagannadh and Manjula Ghattamaneni by their respective production companies Vaishno Academy and Indira Productions.
Pokiri has the perfect blend of everything an entertaining movie should have. Powerful dialogs, foot-tapping numbers, cheeky romance, great action sequences, fantastic characterization and a mix of a perfect dose of humor interlaced throughout. The director has also reserved some space of suspense with the plot!
On the commercial front, Pokiri film has more appeal towards A centers and youth base compared to family crowds and B/C centers. On a whole, Mahesh Babu’s performance in Pokiri itself is worth your ticket and the rest is bonus!
Pokiri is the more grounded, less clownish and more enjoyable film. MB, limited actor as he is, gave a really committed performance. The BGM is fantastic, and Prakash Raj is a really good villain. Barring the pacing (a poorly inserted comedy track) and amateurish editing, it's a very solid film. 7/10 imo.
