Kalyug is based on Mahabharata, what one would also call a Shakespearean drama in modern day cinematic literature. Every aspect works in service to create drama, that drama comprises of its own set of rules, complications, complexities and conveniences, but these are subtle aspects of a larger part of storytelling device.
