San Cristóbal de La Laguna (commonly known as La Laguna, Spanish pronunciation: [saŋ kɾisˈtoβal de la laˈɣuna]) is a city and municipality in the northern part of the island of Tenerife in the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the Canary Islands, Spain.
The charms of San Cristóbal de La Laguna are many and varied. The city was the model for several colonial cities in Latin America, and these days is well worth visiting on a trip to the island of Tenerife.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna is located on the Island of Tenerife, part of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands in Spain. It was founded in the late 15th century on an inland plateau 550 m above sea level next to an insalubrious lagoon.
- Plaza del Adelantado. Plaza del Adelantado is a good place to start your visit to La Laguna, especially if you have arrived with your own rental car, as nearby there is a big paid parking (Las Quinteras Parking - MUVISA).

With 150,000 inhabitants, San Cristobal de La Laguna is still the third most populous city of the Canarias, after the capitals Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas. It was the ancient capital of the Canary Islands archipelago, and is still widely considered its cultural capital.
