Sinhagad is an ancient hill fortress located at around 49 km southwest of the city of Pune, India. Previously known as Kondhana, the fort had been the site of many battles, most notably the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670. [1] It is located in the Pune district in Maharashtra.

Dec 1, 2022 · One of the best scenic fort in Maharashtra. A pride of Pune. There are direct buses from Swargate till Sinhagad Fort bottom. From bottom of fort there are private jeeps which carry you up to the top of fort. Per person they charge nearly 40-50 rupees depending on season and crowd. The food stalls are shifted from parking area to third gate area.
The fort has two gates - the Kalyan Darwaja in the southeast and the Pune Darwaja in the northeast, both protected by three successive gates. The fort contains Kaundinyeshwar Temple, a memorial to Tanaji, the tomb of Rajaram, Lokmanya Tilak Smarak, Amruteshwar Temple, and Devtake.
