National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Dr. Arvind Kumar. FELLOW, ELECTED 2015. Born at Subhanpur, Sheikhpura, Bihar, India on 21 September, 1966. Educated at Sainik School Rewa, Madhya Pradesh 1977-84; Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (IGKV), B.Sc. (Ag) 1987, M.Sc. 1992; IGKV and ICGEB, New Delhi, Ph.D. 2002.
Other contributions: AS Deputy Director General for ICRISAT, Dr. Kumar guided ICRISAT research effeorts in Asia and Africa. He developed research programs for drylands for 2020-2024 and established ICRISAT office in Odisha and Bihar.
He has served in high-level administrative and research positions including Deputy Director General-Research at ICRISAT and Director South Asia Regional Centre in Varanasi and Interim Platform Leader in Rice Breeding Platform at the International Rice Research Institute.
