National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Kolkata ( NIPER Kolkata) is an Indian public pharmaceutical research university, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. As one of the seven National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs) it is granted the Institute of National Importance status.

Nurture and promote quality and excellence in pharmaceutical education and research:Run Master's, Doctoral and post-Doctoral courses and research in pharmaceutical educationDevelop a multi-disciplinary approach in carrying out research and training of pharmaceutical manpower ; andAct as nucleus for interaction between academic and industry by undertaking sponsored and funded research as well as consultancy projectsAt present these NIPERs impart Ph.D and PG level education and grant degree under the NIPER Act, 1998. The students are selected through a common entrance examination. Each Master student is given a fellowship of Rs. 12,400/- per month and Ph.D scholars @ Rs. 31,000-35,000/-.

In 1998, Parliament enacted National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Act, 1998.
