Thiruvarur Viruttachala Kalyanasundaram (Thiruvarur Virudhachala Kalyanasundaram : 26 August 1883 – 17 September 1953), better known by his initials Thiru. Vi. Ka, was an Indian scholar, essayist and activist for the Tamil language.

Kalyanasundaram, ஆகத்து 26, 1883 - செப்டம்பர் 17, 1953 [1]) அரசியல், சமுதாயம், சமயம் எனப் பல துறைகளிலும் ஈடுபாடுகொண்டு பல நூல்களை எழுதிய தமிழறிஞர். சிறந்த மேடைப் பேச்சாளர். இவரது தமிழ்நடையின் காரணமாக இவர் தமிழ்த்தென்றல் என்ற சிறப்புப் பெயரால் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்.

V Kalyanasundaram Mudaliar, also known as Thiru Vi Ka in Tamil, was a Tamil scholar, essayist, and activist born on 26 August 1883 in Thullam village (now Thundalam) in the Chengalpattu district of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The Hindu, 19 September 2003 - The scholar-writer Mr. T. V. Kalyanasundara Mudaliar (71), well-known as "Thiru Vi. Ka.", passed away in his residence in Ganapathi Mudali Street, Royapettah, Madras, on the evening of the 17th. He had lost consciousness at about 5 p.m. and breathed his last at 7-40 p.m.

Thiru Vi. Ka. sought to make his magazine a beacon to the Tamil people. His writings reflected his political and philosophical views. He published one of the first Tamil interpretations of the thought of Mahatma Gandhi, which is still regarded as an important milestone in Gandhian studies.
Through this period, Thiru Vi. Ka. Continued to remain active in politics and the Indian independence struggle. He was considered to be one of the three pillars of the Indian National Congress in the Madras Presidency; even becoming the President of the state Congress Committee in 1926.
