The Indian 20-rupee banknote (₹ 20) is a common denomination of the Indian rupee. The current ₹ 20 banknote in circulation is a part of the Mahatma Gandhi New Series. The Reserve Bank introduced the ₹ 20 note in the Mahatma Gandhi New Series in 2019, making it the last denomination to be introduced in the series.
The new ₹20 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series bear signature of the Governor, Reserve Bank of India. The note has motif of the Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage. The base colour of the note is Greenish Yellow.
The new design bank notes are distinctly different from the current Mahatma Gandhi Series of bank notes in colour, size and theme. The theme of the new series notes is India’s heritage sites. A few new other elements added in these notes are numerals in devnagari and the logo of Swachh Bharat.
The Rs.5, Rs.10, Rs.20 and Rs.50 notes contain a readable, fully embedded windowed security thread with the inscription ‘Bharat’ (in Hindi), and ‘RBI’. The security thread appears to the left of the Mahatma's portrait.

The emphasis lay on symbols of Science & Technology (Aryabhatta on the Rs. 2 note), Progress (the Oil Rig on Re 1 and Farm Mechanisation on Rs. 5 and Hirakud dam on Rs. 100) and a change in orientation to Indian Art forms on the Rs. 20 and the Rs. 10 notes.
